Video: Figure Announces High-Volume Humanoid Robot Manufacturing Facility

by Marco van der Hoeven

Robotics company Figure has published a video of BotQ, a manufacturing facility designed to produce humanoid robots at scale. The facility is expected to reach an annual production capacity of 12,000 units, with plans to expand the fleet to 100,000 robots.

Figure’s hardware and manufacturing teams have developed an in-house production process to streamline assembly and maintain quality control. The company has also built supporting software infrastructure, integrating systems such as Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS). The company has transitioned from prototype designs that relied on CNC machining to a new model, Figure 03, optimized for large-scale production. The updated design incorporates manufacturing techniques such as injection molding, die casting, metal injection molding, and stamping, reducing costs and production time. Figure has also been working to establish a supply chain for humanoid robots. The company has designed key elements—like actuators, motors, sensors, battery packs, and electronics—internally. It plans to scale production to 100,000 robots and 3,000,000 actuators within the next four years by balancing in-house assembly of core technologies with outsourced manufacturing of select components.
