Tacstone Technology and PTWEE Join Forces for Test Automation

Lower Costs and Increased Efficiency through Test Process Automation

by Marco van der Hoeven

Tacstone Technology and PTWEE are entering a partnership in the field of test automation. This strategic alliance combines PTWEE’s expertise in software testing with Tacstone Technology’s experience as a Platinum Partner of software provider UiPath, which is currently making significant investments in the AI capabilities of its Test Cloud. SAP users, among others, may benefit from this collaboration.

Testing is becoming increasingly important for organizations. IT landscapes are constantly changing due to updates, upgrades, and functional modifications. Before these changes are put into production, it is essential to ensure everything works properly. Clients want to implement changes with confidence — they want control over quality.

The collaboration between Tacstone Technology and PTWEE originated with a joint client in the medical sector who faced this challenge. Test automation for SAP systems not only ensured better quality control but also resulted in cost savings and more efficient business process design. Building on the success of this project, the parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), confirming their mutual trust and commitment to the partnership.

Addressing Pain Points

“For many companies, testing is very expensive, as it consumes a lot of time from both internal and external staff,” says Ebert Knol, partner at Tacstone Technology. “At the same time, the pace of releases and updates is increasing. Many cloud applications are now updated monthly or even weekly instead of just twice a year. For every release or update, it’s essential to ensure quality through testing. This not only takes a lot of time but also carries the risk of being done hastily or incompletely due to its repetitive nature — which can have serious consequences.”

Test automation can help alleviate these pain points: “Testing is not a goal in itself; it’s about minimizing risks and proactively identifying when something isn’t working correctly.” To address this demand, Tacstone’s Kevin Westermann was recognized this year as an MVP in test automation. Tacstone gained this experience in part through a large-scale test automation project for SAP user Staatsolie.

Efficiency

Since 2008, PTWEE has specialized in testing and improving testing processes within complex IT environments that use enterprise software solutions (such as SAP). “Test automation is becoming an increasingly important aspect for our clients, alongside a structured testing process and the people who perform the tests,” says Roel van Bremen, Commercial Director at PTWEE. “More and more organizations want to run large numbers of regression tests in as short a time as possible.”

“Test automation provides a solution here, but many organizations aren’t ready for it yet. That’s where PTWEE can help. Many prefer to reuse tools they already have licenses for, as purchasing new — often expensive — tools creates an additional barrier. This is where the partnership with Tacstone Technology proves its value. UiPath has a large user base in Robotic Process Automation (RPA). But what many companies don’t know is that UiPath also offers excellent test automation capabilities, especially now that AI features have been added.”

“This makes it easier and more logical for companies to use UiPath for test automation,” says Van Bremen. “PTWEE and Tacstone Technology want to inform clients about the testing possibilities UiPath offers. This joint approach enables organizations to test more smartly and efficiently, without the need for major investments in a new tool.”

Agentic AI

Jaap-Jan Wever, Regional Leader Benelux at UiPath, adds: “Test automation has been part of our platform for some time. With the emergence of agentic AI, we’ve made a major transformation in our testing capabilities. As of this week, our Test Cloud — the agentic AI version of test automation — is generally available. This is an important strategic expansion for us.”

On the benefits, he explains: “In larger organizations, traditional testing methods can consume up to 30% of the IT budget. By using Test Cloud, we can cut those costs in half. With the same budget, 15% of IT resources can be redirected toward innovation. That’s exactly what organizations at the board level want: to innovate quickly, but in a reliable, controlled way. Testing plays a key role in this.”

Autonomous Agents

Agentic AI at UiPath means working with independently acting agents. “These are not just supportive AI features, but agents that can make decisions and perform actions autonomously. The distinguishing factor is their ability to act proactively within the testing process, while still keeping a human in the loop — people remain part of the process. The goal is to involve humans only when necessary, with the rest being handled by agents. These agents can also collaborate across teams and disciplines organization-wide.”

“We previously introduced tools like Autopilot for Testers, which significantly increased productivity. With the launch of Test Cloud — a dedicated environment for application testing — we’re taking the next step. The full Enterprise Automation Platform supports reuse of test assets and resources and extends testing capabilities to other parts of the organization.”

Results

On the collaboration, Wever states: “Tacstone Technology has long been a valued UiPath partner. This year, they again achieved an advanced partner status. They deliver strong results for their own clients and ours. Their collaboration with PTWEE, a testing specialist, completes the picture. PTWEE brings in-depth knowledge and hands-on testing experience, while Tacstone focuses on automation. With the arrival of Test Cloud and its new capabilities, this is a highly valuable combination.”

“Agentic testing is still relatively new but is a key differentiator. The impact for clients is tangible: analyses, including those confirmed by IDC, show that organizations can save an average of around four million euros annually through the use of Test Cloud. The average payback period is between five and six months. And that’s not even including the non-financial benefits: fewer errors, better quality, less rework, and more confidence in the release process.”

Added Value

Knol adds: “Test automation can save a great deal of time for internal staff and reduce the need to hire external testers. It also reduces the risk of operational errors by enabling more consistent testing. Moreover, it speeds up the development cycle. A developer can build something, have it tested automatically overnight by a test robot, and see results the next morning to make immediate adjustments.”

Van Bremen concludes: “This collaboration offers an accessible way for organizations to start and experience what test automation can do. Our motto is: start small, see the results, and then build further. Once you see the added value, scaling up becomes easy.”

On May 8, Tacstone is organizing the free event ‘Deep-dive UiPath Test Automation’.
