At Hannover Messe 2024, Rockwell Automation and Microsoft have announced new technology integrations aimed at bridging the gap between the physical and digital aspects of industrial automation. The collaboration focuses on creating intelligent factories by introducing three innovative technology solutions that simplify operational complexities and support sustainability and operational excellence.
The partnership is characterized by shared goals between Rockwell Automation and Microsoft to enhance industrial operations through technological empowerment. Nicole Denil, Global Vice President of Market Access at Rockwell Automation, stated that their joint efforts are designed to streamline how manufacturers design, operate, and maintain their enterprises, ultimately aiding in waste reduction and sustainability efforts.
One of the key integrations involves Rockwell’s FactoryTalk solutions, which incorporate artificial intelligence, IoT, and automation to merge physical and digital operations seamlessly. These capabilities are supported by Microsoft Azure’s adaptive cloud technology, which helps unify disparate teams and systems, facilitating scalable application and insights deployment.
Furthermore, a collaboration involving NVIDIA has been introduced, focusing on the enhancement of digital twins through real-time management and simulation, boosted by AI tools and cloud technology provided by Microsoft.
Another development is the integration of Rockwell Automation’s Plex Manufacturing Execution System (MES) with FactoryTalk DataMosaix and Microsoft’s Cloud for Manufacturing. This integration is designed to enhance productivity, safety, and quality control in manufacturing processes through advanced AI tools that assist in quality issue resolution.
