Robust.AI has introduced Carter Pro, a collaborative mobile robot designed to enhance human-robot interaction and streamline logistics workflows through advanced AI. The company, headquartered in San Carlos, California, unveiled the robot with an ability to support and work alongside human operators in both autonomous and collaborative modes. One key feature of the Carter Pro is its force-sensing handlebar, which allows workers to easily control or influence the robot’s actions by physically moving it, offering real-time flexibility and a higher level of human-robot collaboration.
Carter Pro’s AI integrates environmental awareness, enabling the robot to respond to surroundings and people in a more intuitive manner. This AI-driven design allows the robot to gather data and improve its performance over time, adapting to various logistics scenarios. Rodney Brooks, Co-Founder and CTO of Robust.AI, emphasized the robot’s role as a collaborative partner rather than a replacement for human workers, with its ability to complement human tasks through tactile interaction.
The robot’s deployment has already begun in partnership with DHL Supply Chain across operations in the U.S. and Mexico. Sally Miller, Global CIO of DHL Supply Chain, praised the collaboration with Robust.AI, noting that robotics are increasingly vital in addressing the dynamic challenges of the supply chain industry. Carter Pro is positioned to offer greater scalability and efficiency by enabling more flexible picking operations, reducing training time, and accelerating return on investment.
