Robot prepares ‘500 meals per ingredient load’

by Marco van der Hoeven

Circus SE has launched the CA-1 Series 4, its newest AI-powered robotic meal production system, capable of preparing up to 500 meals per ingredient load. The system, which has now entered volume production, is scheduled for customer deliveries starting summer 2025, according to the company.

Developed for industrial-scale food service, the CA-1 Series 4 introduces a redesigned system architecture focused on throughput, energy efficiency, and modularity. Key upgrades include an enhanced induction heating module with profiled temperature control, customizable stirring speeds, and a new pot and silo configuration designed to improve handling reliability.

The robot features a new electromagnetic quick-release gripper integrated with collaborative robotic arms to reduce cycle times and increase durability. The hygiene module has been reengineered with an industrial-grade retracting washer for fully automated cleaning, while the updated dispensing unit is designed for accurate ingredient management and rapid changeovers.

Weighing more than 450 kilograms less than its predecessor, the Series 4 incorporates a revised frame and materials strategy aimed at lowering costs for shipping, handling, and installation. It also includes a new user interface with an onboard touchscreen and integrated AI voice ordering, enabling a unified customer interaction and meal production process.

Built on Circus SE’s AI-native Circus OS, the system supports real-time optimization and coordination across its components. The launch forms part of the company’s global rollout strategy for its autonomous food service technologies.
