Pacteon Group has announced its participation in Pack Expo International 2024, where it will showcase new packaging automation solutions. The company has expanded its portfolio with the addition of Descon Conveyor Systems, complementing its existing brands, Schneider Packaging Equipment, ESS Technologies, and Phoenix Stretch Wrappers.
Schneider Packaging Equipment will reveal a new system that integrates case erecting, taping, and palletizing. The Collaborative Case Erector-Palletizer combines the Anubis 3D Automatic Carton Erector (ACE) with Schneider’s FANUC CRX-25iA robot platform. This solution, designed to streamline packaging processes, features a dual-purpose end-of-arm tool (EOAT) capable of picking and forming cases, removing the need for a separate fixture.
The lightweight tool facilitates a quick changeover in less than five minutes, potentially increasing efficiency and minimizing repetitive motion injuries. Schneider’s Director of R&D, Jamie Barber, described the system as adaptable for various case sizes, with a zero-programming setup requiring only the input of case dimensions.
Descon Conveyor Systems will also exhibit its Single-Lane Empty Can Vacuum Transfer with Laser Coding and Code Inspection. This solution ensures precise laser coding on empty cans before rinsing, with the vacuum conveyor holding cans in place for coding. Defective cans are automatically removed from the line, reducing stoppages. Descon’s VP of Operations, Jeff Philpott, highlighted the system’s effectiveness, with speeds of up to 1,800 cans per minute in current installations.
Additionally, Pacteon will feature an Integrators’ Corner at Booth S-3300, where engineers will be available to discuss integration solutions for packaging lines. Visitors can also observe Descon’s proprietary integration software and Schneider’s Robotic Case Packer, a dual robotic system designed for high-speed case packing and palletizing.
