The GSMA Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona 2024 last week received over 101,000 attendees from 205 countries and territories. The event serves as a major gathering for the mobile connectivity industry, featuring a combination of exhibition, conference, and policymaker gatherings.
In terms of attendance, the event welcomed over 101,000 unique in-person attendees, with over 59% from industries related to the core mobile ecosystem. The event featured over 2,700 exhibitors, sponsors, and partners, and more than 1,100 speakers, with over 40% being female. The attendee profile included 51% at director level or higher, with 21% from the C-Suite, and 26% of attendees were female. Additionally, the event attracted over 2,600 journalists and industry analysts from around the world.
The GSMA Ministerial Programme at MWC Barcelona 2024 involved over 180 delegations from 140 countries, including two heads of state, over 70 ministers, nearly 120 heads of regulatory authorities, and over 40 intergovernmental organizations. The 4YFN section, marking its 10th anniversary, included 930 exhibitors, 450 speakers, and over 1,000 investors with a collective fund of €50 billion.
The event has been certified as carbon neutral for ten years, and this year saw a 42% increase in the use of the complimentary public transport pass. Over 400,000 unique viewers tuned into keynotes and live sessions on various platforms.
The GSMA’s calendar continues with MWC events in Shanghai, Las Vegas, and Kigali, and the M360 series in different locations. MWC Barcelona is set to return to the Fira from March 3-6, 2025.
