Mondial Relay deploys sorting robots in warehouse

by Pieter Werner

Mondial Relay is deploying Addverb’s ‘Zippy’ sorting robots at its distribution center in La Roche-sur-Yon, France, to enhance parcel handling efficiency and accuracy. This deployment involves 62 Zippy robots, part of a comprehensive automation solution aimed at streamlining the sorting process for Mondial Relay’s high-volume parcel operations.

By integrating these robots, Mondial Relay aims to improve both productivity and working conditions, reducing the risk of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) for employees. The system features four infeed stations, where parcels are scanned and then sorted by the Zippy robots using advanced algorithms. The robots deliver parcels to one of 28 destinations across five lanes, ensuring precise and efficient sorting.

This automation initiative positions Mondial Relay to better meet customer demands, particularly during peak seasons. With the ability to increase sorting capacity to 3,000 parcels per hour by adding more robots to the platform, Mondial Relay is focused on optimizing operational performance and delivering reliable service.
