Matthews International Corporation announced a global commercial partnership between its Automation Solutions business segment and Mobile Industrial Robots (MiR), a manufacturer of collaborative autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and a subsidiary of Teradyne Robotics, part of Teradyne.
The partnership aims to integrate Matthews’ warehouse automation technologies with MiR’s AMRs, designed for internal transportation and material handling. Both companies intend to leverage the expected 30% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) in the automated guided vehicles (AGV) and AMR market through 2028, a trend driven by increased e-commerce demand and the adaptability of AMRs, which do not require significant infrastructure changes.
The collaboration will focus on delivering comprehensive warehouse automation solutions, combining Matthews’ Warehouse Execution System (WES) software, picking systems, and automation expertise with MiR’s AMR technology. This integration is expected to offer customers enhanced flexibility and scalability across production and distribution operations.
Lars Vöcking, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Matthews Industrial Automation EMEA, stated, “Our customers face rapidly changing demands in their supply chains and distribution networks. By integrating MiR’s AMRs into our existing suite of material handling solutions, we can help them unlock new efficiencies and build a more resilient, future-ready operation.”
Matthews’ automation solutions are currently deployed in over 2,000 manufacturing and distribution centers worldwide, focusing on productivity improvement, quality enhancement, and cost reduction.
Jean-Pierre Hathout, President of MiR, commented, “Modern automation is all about cross-technology collaboration and integrability, and this partnership will make it easier for operations to integrate and utilize AMRs in their business.”
