JIDU Auto has announced the release of its V2.0 software at the “Evolution: AI Reshaping Intelligent Driving” conference in Chengdu. This new software, which will be introduced on the JIDU 07 model, incorporates Baidu Apollo’s Level 4 autonomous driving technology, making it one of only two pure vision-based systems available globally and the only one of its kind in China.
The V2.0 software includes over 947 new features across various modules, such as end-to-end large-scale model smart driving, a smart cockpit, and improved vehicle connectivity. A key development is the integration of Baidu Apollo’s ADFM, a Level 4 autonomous driving large-scale model. JIDU Auto is the first global electric vehicle brand to implement this technology in consumer vehicles, according to Joe Xia, CEO of JIDU Auto.
JIDU Auto’s approach to intelligent driving technology differs from Tesla’s by using a two-stage end-to-end model, which processes data in segments. This method simplifies system design and testing, potentially enhancing system stability and making it more suitable for Chinese road conditions. Baidu’s research and development, backed by investments exceeding RMB 150 billion, has contributed to this advancement.
The V2.0 software also introduces updates to JIDU Auto’s Apollo Self Driving (ASD) system, combining pure vision technology with an end-to-end large-scale model. This aims to improve safety and performance in both high-speed and complex urban environments. Baidu’s Apollo system, which has accumulated over 100 million kilometers of autonomous driving data, supports these updates.
Additionally, JIDU Auto presented a new AI-driven smart cockpit featuring the industry’s first lip movement recognition capability, designed to enhance speech recognition accuracy in noisy environments. The cockpit’s AI architecture supports various functions, including vehicle control and interactive features like role-playing and multi-zone group chats, providing a personalized user experience.
