Hyundai starts with ‘Robot Total Solution’-plan

Robots and facial recognition systems employed in smart buildings

by Marco van der Hoeven

Hyundai Motor Group has started the deployment of its DAL-e Delivery robot and Parking Robot at the Factorial Seongsu office building in Seoul. The DAL-e Delivery robot, a product of Hyundai Motor and Kia, is equipped with advanced artificial intelligence face identification technology developed by Robotics LAB, boasting an accuracy rate of 99.9%. This robot autonomously navigates the building to provide efficient delivery services to its occupants.

Additionally, Hyundai WIA’s Parking Robot can autonomously park vehicles, maneuver in tight spaces, and optimize parking space usage. Complementing this, Hyundai WIA has created a Smart Parking Control System capable of managing up to 50 parking robots simultaneously. Beginning in the third quarter, the Parking Robot will work in conjunction with Hyundai Motor and Kia’s Automatic Charging Robot (ACR) to offer electric vehicle charging services.

Hyundai Motor Group aims to establish a comprehensive Robot Total Solution by expanding these robotic services to other buildings. This initiative starts with Factorial Seongsu, where the technologies are currently being implemented. The Group’s development plan includes integrating various robots and facial recognition systems in smart buildings and creating a multi-integrated control system for managing multiple delivery robots.

Dong Jin Hyun, Vice President and Head of Robotics LAB at Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation, emphasized the goal of making Factorial Seongsu a pioneer in applying this comprehensive robotic solution and expanding these advancements to more buildings in the future.
