Hakimo has launched an AI-powered autonomous security agent designed to enhance physical security monitoring by replicating the decision-making capabilities of human security personnel. Branded as the AI Operator, the system uses a combination of computer vision and generative AI to oversee existing security infrastructure, including surveillance cameras and badge readers. It identifies anomalies and potential threats in real time and autonomously executes incident response protocols such as issuing speaker warnings and initiating standard operating procedures. Human intervention is reserved for complex cases, allowing the platform to reduce operational costs while maintaining active threat management.
The company, based in Menlo Park, California, developed the AI Operator to address challenges in the physical security sector, including high false alarm rates, staffing shortages, and rising crime. According to Hakimo, the system enables organizations to monitor multiple sites simultaneously and deliver consistent security coverage without the limitations associated with traditional approaches.
Founded in 2020 by AI researchers Sam Joseph and Sagar Honnungar, Hakimo has expanded its customer base across industries such as residential property management, automotive retail, construction, and enterprise facilities. The company reports that its platform helped prevent thousands of security incidents in 2024 and has been involved in law enforcement collaborations and life-saving interventions.
To support further development and market expansion, Hakimo has secured $10.5 million in a Series A funding round. The round was led by Vertex Ventures and Zigg Capital, with participation from RXR Arden Digital Ventures. Existing investors Defy.vc and Gokul Rajaram also contributed. This brings the company’s total funding to $20.5 million, including earlier investments led by Neotribe Ventures and Rocketship.vc.
