Geek+ upgrades Robot Management System for holiday season

by Pieter Werner

Geek+ has announced an upgraded Robot Management System (RMS) aimed at addressing the increased demands of the holiday season. The enhanced RMS, which can coordinate over 5,000 robots and process up to 10,000 tasks per second, is designed to improve the efficiency of high-volume logistics operations during peak periods.

The company highlighted that e-commerce surges during the holiday season often strain warehouse operations, requiring solutions that maintain both speed and accuracy. According to Kai Liu, Head of System Platform at Geek+, the upgraded RMS enables businesses to manage growing order volumes while ensuring timely delivery and improved customer satisfaction.

The enhancements include the ability to scale operations significantly, managing thousands of robots in a single facility. In addition, the system’s high-speed processing capabilities are intended to accelerate order fulfillment, which is critical for meeting seasonal deadlines. Geek+ reports that the RMS optimizes computational efficiency by reducing CPU load by 35% and memory usage by 50%. It also incorporates Multi-Agent Path Finding (MAPF) algorithms to reduce congestion and increase throughput by over 15%.

The upgraded RMS integrates with Geek+’s core automation solutions—Shelf-to-Person, Tote-to-Person, and Pallet-to-Person systems. This integration allows for greater flexibility within warehouses, enabling multiple automation setups under one system. For example, the Shelf-to-Person systems can handle up to 5,000 robots across facilities larger than 100,000 square meters, supporting over 200 workstations. Similarly, the Tote-to-Person systems manage hundreds of robots to facilitate efficient operations in facilities of up to 50,000 square meters.

Wenzhe Tan, Head of System Product at Geek+, noted that the advancements in the RMS aim to provide smarter and more coordinated operations for businesses during the holiday season and beyond. By streamlining automation, Geek+ seeks to help warehouses maintain productivity and agility in a rapidly evolving logistics environment.
