Knightscope, specializing in public safety robots andAI, has deployed a K5 GOV Autonomous Security Robot (ASR) at the Audie L. Murphy VA Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. This deployment marks Knightscope’s entry into the federal sector, representing a significant expansion of its operational scope.
The deployment follows Knightscope’s acquisition of an Authority to Operate from FedRAMP, which took three years of effort and opens up the company’s technology for evaluation by other federal departments and agencies. The K5 GOV model features a new hardware and software architecture designed to meet the rigorous requirements of the U.S. Federal Government, facilitating easier adoption and procurement by agencies.
William Santana Li, Chairman and CEO of Knightscope, expressed gratitude towards his team’s dedication and highlighted the honor of contributing to the security of U.S. veterans. Knightscope’s entry into the federal sector also includes the release of a white paper titled “Artificial Intelligence, Emergency Communications and Robots Enhancing Federal Security Programs,” available for download on the company’s website.
Furthermore, the K5 GOV robots were distributed through the GSA Schedule with the assistance of MediaNow Inc., a veteran-owned small business partner. Knightscope also emphasized its commitment to domestic manufacturing and compliance with the Buy America and Buy American Acts, which are part of its strategy to support the U.S. economy and expand its market reach, ultimately driving the company towards profitability.
