FANUC America officially opened its new 650,000-square-foot West Campus facility in Auburn Hills, Michigan, representing a $110 million investment on 67 acres of land. This expansion brings FANUC America’s total footprint in Michigan to over 2 million square feet and is part of the company’s strategic plan to bolster industrial automation in North America.
The new facility will support advanced product manufacturing and customized automation systems. It also includes warehouse space capable of housing over 6,000 quick delivery robots and tens of thousands of parts. Since 2019, FANUC America has generated over 400 jobs in Michigan and invested more than $187 million, including a 461,000-square-foot North Campus facility and new headquarters in Mexico and Canada.
Mike Cicco, President and CEO of FANUC America, emphasized the company’s growth strategy and commitment to the future of automation and robotics. He highlighted that the expansion allows FANUC to better support its customers with advanced robotic and automation solutions, enhancing efficiency across various industries.
Additionally, FANUC America plans to renovate a former law school on the West Campus site to establish the FANUC Academy, which will become the largest corporate robotics and industrial automation training facility in the U.S. This initiative underscores the importance of training in maintaining a strong manufacturing sector in North America.
Quentin L. Messer, Jr., CEO of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, praised FANUC’s investment and its positive impact on Michigan’s economic development. The grand opening ceremony featured remarks from several state and local officials, including Messer, Jr.; Oakland County Executive David Coulter; and Auburn Hills Mayor Brian Marzolf.
FANUC’s robotics and automation technologies are utilized in a diverse array of industries, including automotive, aerospace, agriculture, consumer products, food, pharmaceuticals, and warehousing.
