European Edition of Humanoids Summit Addresses Key Trends in Expanding Market

by Marco van der Hoeven

Following the inaugural Humanoids Summit in the US in December, which drew over 1,400 attendees, this event dedicated to humanoid robotics will host its first European edition in London, UK, on May 29–30, 2025. Rocking Robots, media partner for the European edition, sat down with founder Modar Alaoui of ALM Ventures, a venture capital firm specializing in deep-tech innovation in humanoid robotics and generative AI.

“The Humanoids Summit was created to fill a critical gap in the industry bringing together key stakeholders in humanoid robotics, from startups to established players, investors, and policymakers”, Modar Aloui of ALM Ventures explains. “Our goal is to accelerate the commercialization of humanoids by fostering deep discussions on technology, investment, and deployment challenges while shaping the industry’s future. Given the rapid advancements in AI and robotics, this platform is crucial for aligning global efforts.”

He looks back at the inaugural event in the US as a major success. “With over 1,400 attendees across both days, a strong mix of 60% humanoid robotics technology buyers and investors, and 40% suppliers, along with participation from industry leaders like 1X, Agility Robotics, Sanctuary AI, Fourier, Enchanted Tools, Physical Intelligence, NASA, OpenAI, Hugging Face, Google, Nvidia, Amazon, Disney, and Universal Studios, it established itself as the premier event for humanoid robotics. Engagement was high, with significant networking activity, strong exhibitor interest, and a valuable VC presence. The numbers validate the demand for such a focused summit, and we’re now building on that momentum.”

London

The London edition will expand on the foundation set in the US, with a targeted 20-30% increase in attendance and a 20% expansion in exhibitors, emphasizing European startups and established humanoid robotics firms. The content will be region-specific, addressing Europe’s unique challenges and opportunities in humanoid robotics. Attendees can expect high-level discussions, stronger industry collaborations, and a growing presence of venture capital to support humanoid innovation in Europe.

Aloui: “The summit is designed for executives, engineers, and decision-makers shaping the future of humanoids. Titles such as VP of Robotics, CTO, Chief Robot Officer, Head of Hardware or Software Engineering, and Robotics R&D Leads represent the key stakeholders who should attend. The event offers unmatched networking, insights into industry trends, exposure to groundbreaking technology, and direct engagement with investors and potential partners.”

Trends

“Key trends at the event include the role of AI and large-scale foundation models in humanoids, along with advancements in actuation, autonomy, and real-time control systems. Discussions will also cover the transition from research prototypes to commercial deployment, focusing on the integration of humanoids into manufacturing, logistics, and service industries. Additionally, investment trends, funding roadmaps for humanoid development, and challenges related to standardization and regulations will be explored.”

The European robotics market is more fragmented then the US, with a stronger emphasis on industrial automation and academic-driven innovation. “Unlike the US, where venture-backed startups drive humanoid development, Europe has a mix of corporate-backed research and government-supported initiatives. Regulatory frameworks are also more stringent in Europe, influencing commercialization timelines. However, the talent pool and deep expertise in mechatronics and AI make it a critical region for humanoid advancements.”

Impact

He concludes: “Success is measured by impact, strong industry participation, meaningful partnerships formed, increased investment in humanoid robotics, and real-world adoption of the technology. If attendees leave with actionable insights, exhibitors gain high-value connections, and the industry moves closer to commercial viability, the summit has achieved its purpose.”

The Humanoids Summit is set to be a recurring annual event, with its established presence in the US and its expansion to London this year, where it is expected to become a regular fixture. “There are also plans to grow into other regions, including Asia, with a focus on Japan in the future. The high engagement metrics from the US edition set a strong benchmark, and we aim to surpass that in London while laying the groundwork for broader global expansion.”
