EngineAI Debuts Robotics Lineup at CES

by Marco van der Hoeven

Shenzhen-based EngineAI Robotics debuted its lineup of humanoid robots at CES 2025. The company presented three models: the SE01, SA01, and PM01, which are designed as platforms for developers and researchers to advance interaction with physical environments. The SA01 and PM01, in particular, are open-source platforms intended for further development in embodied intelligence.

EngineAI’s founder and CEO, Zhao Tongyang, underscored the company’s mission to create scalable, general-purpose humanoid robots at competitive prices. Zhao aims to achieve production and sales of over a thousand units by the end of 2025. Zhao, a veteran in the robotics sector, previously founded Dogotix and XPENG Robotics, contributing to advancements such as quadruped robots and the humanoid PX5 model, which gained recognition at NVIDIA’s GTC 2024. Following the PX5’s success, Zhao launched EngineAI, raising approximately $13.64 million in initial funding.

The SE01 is EngineAI’s flagship model, designed for industrial labor. Standing at 170 cm and weighing 55 kg, it features advanced harmonic force control joint modules, deep reinforcement learning, and imitation learning algorithms. Capable of human-like movements such as running and squatting, the SE01 is engineered for tasks like heavy lifting and precision assembly in factory settings.

The SA01 targets research and educational use, offering a customizable, bipedal design. It features strong system rigidity, reinforcement learning algorithms, and efficient power consumption. Priced at $5,400, the SA01 is constructed from durable aluminum alloy, making it suitable for rigorous use in academic and research environments. EngineAI has reported robust demand for the model and established stable production to meet market needs.

The PM01, a lightweight robot standing 138 cm tall, emphasizes flexibility and dynamic performance. With advanced degrees of freedom in the neck and waist, it supports natural gait walking modes and features cross-platform algorithm capabilities. EngineAI is offering promotional pricing for the PM01 until March 31, 2025, with the commercial edition upgraded to the educational edition at no additional cost.
