Delta’s D-Bot Wins Red Dot Design Award

by Pieter Werner

Delta Electronics has received the “Red Dot: Best of the Best” design award for 2024 for its D-Bot Series Collaborative Robots (Cobots). The award acknowledges the company’s work in developing smart manufacturing solutions. Delta’s D-Bot Series, unveiled at this year’s Hannover Messe, includes six models of industrial robots with six axes, payload capacities up to 30 kg, and reach capabilities up to 1,800 mm. The cobots are compatible with EtherCAT, Modbus, and CODESYS, allowing for use in a variety of industrial settings.

A primary feature of the D-Bot Series is its focus on safety, designed for environments where robots interact with human workers. The integrated “Reflex Safety” system detects contact quickly and reverses movements to prevent accidents. The cobots also incorporate high-end sensors, collision detection, and meet IP66 protection standards, ensuring resistance to contamination and easy cleaning.

The Red Dot Award, first established in 1954, honors product design across various industries. Delta invests over 8% of its annual revenue in research and development, reflecting its focus on innovation. The award ceremony will be held in Singapore on October 10, 2024, followed by an exhibition at the Red Dot Design Museum.
