Delta Cobot wins German Design Award

by Pieter Werner

Delta’s D-Bot Series Collaborative Robots (Cobots) has won the 2025 German Design Award in the category of Excellent Product Design. This recognition follows the series’ earlier success at the 2024 Red Dot Design Award in Singapore. The German Design Award, presented by the German Design Council, is regarded as one of the leading international honors in the design industry, recognizing innovative and high-quality product design.

Michael Mayer-Rosa, Senior Director of the Industrial Automation Business Group at Delta Electronics EMEA Region, highlighted the company’s ongoing investment in research and development, stating that more than 8% of its revenues are allocated to R&D. He emphasized that the cobot market has surpassed USD 1 billion and continues to grow rapidly. According to Mayer-Rosa, the D-Bot Series is designed to meet the evolving demands of businesses across various applications, offering safety, efficiency, and practicality.

Unveiled at Hannover Messe earlier this year and later showcased at SPS 2024 in Nuremberg, the D-Bot Series is designed to operate safely in environments where human interaction is required. The robots incorporate a “Reflex Safety” feature, which detects contact and instantly reverses movement to prevent accidents. Advanced sensors and collision detection, capable of responding to a light tap, further enhance operational safety.

The cobots are designed for rapid deployment, with setup times of under two hours. They offer an accuracy of ±0.02 mm and a payload capacity ranging from 6 kg to 30 kg, making them adaptable for tasks such as assembly and palletizing. Developed in Europe and aimed at global markets, the D-Bot Series is positioned as a solution for businesses seeking automation in dynamic production environments.
