Consumer Technology Association Highlights Robotics Innovations During National Robotics Week

by Pieter Werner

During the recent National Robotics Week, the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), the organizer of CES, spotlighted a range of robotics technologies that are influencing various sectors of the economy and altering how services are delivered across healthcare, logistics, manufacturing, and home care.

The association emphasized how robotics has evolved from its early depictions in science fiction to become a field driven by practical applications that aim to increase efficiency, safety, and accessibility. According to the CTA, robots are now actively integrated into sectors such as elder care, retail, and healthcare, playing roles that support daily living, improve operational workflows, and expand the reach of medical services.

In healthcare, robotics technologies are being deployed to assist in complex surgical procedures, enhance diagnostic accuracy through AI integration, and provide support for patients undergoing physical rehabilitation. Devices such as robotic-assisted surgical systems and rehabilitation platforms are cited by the CTA as contributing to improved patient outcomes and more accessible care delivery.

Retail and manufacturing

Retail and manufacturing are also experiencing changes through the use of autonomous robots. These technologies are utilized to manage warehouse logistics, optimize supply chains, and facilitate customer service through mechanisms such as automated checkouts and personalized shopping tools.

As part of its recognition of innovation within the sector, the CTA announced several honorees of the CES Innovation Awards 2025, spotlighting robotics solutions that aim to address specific industrial and consumer challenges. Among the recipients:

  • The ARii Autonomous Robotic System for Industrial Inspection was recognized for its application in industrial maintenance, where it performs autonomous inspections to enhance safety and operational efficiency in hazardous environments.
  • The Conit Runner, a robotic delivery system, was acknowledged for its potential to streamline logistics and reduce delivery times through high-speed automation.
  • The Conversational AI Robot Romi was highlighted for its role in social care, offering interactive support for elderly individuals and those with special needs by leveraging advanced conversational artificial intelligence.
  • The H-Medi: All-in-One Gait Rehabilitation and Prognosis system was commended for its contribution to physical rehabilitation, providing individualized therapy and prognostic capabilities to support mobility recovery.
  • The Hypershell Carbon X, featuring a carbon fiber exoskeleton, was noted for enhancing robot mobility in demanding conditions, while XoMotion was cited for advancing assistive technologies aimed at individuals with mobility impairments.

According to the CTA, these technologies underscore how robotics is reshaping everyday environments—ranging from domestic settings to industrial operations—through adaptive and responsive innovation. National Robotics Week served as a platform for the association to draw attention to ongoing developments in the field and to recognize the companies contributing to the broader adoption of robotic solutions.

CES by the numbers

The robotics spotlight coincided with the release of the official CES 2025 audit, which confirmed the event as the largest independently audited annual business gathering. According to the audit, CES 2025 hosted over 142,000 attendees and more than 4,500 exhibiting companies, reinforcing its position as a central platform for global technology innovation.

International participation remained substantial, with 57,401 attendees, representing 40% of the total audience, traveling from outside the United States. Media presence also remained high, with 6,582 registered members of the press covering developments across sectors such as AI, robotics, health, and entertainment.

The event attracted representatives from 305 Fortune Global 500 companies and featured over 300 conference sessions led by more than 1,200 speakers. On average, more than 15 business deals were reported secured per exhibiting company, underscoring the commercial impact of the event.

As preparations for CES 2026 begin, CTA Vice President and CES Show Director John T. Kelly noted that the global turnout reinforces the international reach of innovation and highlighted ongoing initiatives, including calls for speakers and the next round of Innovation Awards, aimed at building on the event’s momentum.
