Collaboration Apptronik and Jabil to Scale Production of Humanoid Robots

by Marco van der Hoeven

Apptronik and Jabil have announced a strategic collaboration to scale the production of Apollo humanoid robots and integrate them into Jabil’s manufacturing operations. The partnership aims to accelerate the adoption of humanoid robots by leveraging Jabil’s engineering and supply chain expertise alongside Apptronik’s AI-powered robotics technology.

As part of a pilot program, newly manufactured Apollo robots will undergo real-world validation testing at Jabil’s factory, performing repetitive intralogistics and manufacturing tasks such as inspection, sorting, kitting, lineside delivery, fixture placement, and sub-assembly. The initiative is designed to optimize automation and assess the impact of humanoid robots in manufacturing environments. Jabil plans to integrate Apollo units into its own production lines, enabling employees to shift their focus from repetitive tasks to more complex, creative projects.

Jabil, a global manufacturer with experience in robotics and automation, will serve as the worldwide manufacturing partner for Apollo humanoid robots. The collaboration will provide Apptronik with the ability to scale production globally while ensuring quality, inventory management, and rapid deployment. Jabil will also use the partnership to explore new automation solutions aimed at improving operational efficiency and safety.

Apptronik’s Apollo robots are designed for mass manufacturability, featuring a simplified bill of materials and actuators that reduce cost and production time. The company aims to make humanoid robots more accessible for applications beyond manufacturing, including retail, elder care, and home use.

Jeff Cardenas, co-founder and CEO of Apptronik, emphasized the importance of scalable production, stating that building humanoid robots at the right price point and in key geographic locations is essential for widespread adoption. Rafael Renno, Senior Vice President of Global Business Units at Jabil, highlighted the company’s commitment to robotics and automation, noting that piloting and manufacturing Apollo units aligns with Jabil’s long-term strategy of enhancing manufacturing capabilities.
