CES: Hesai to Launch Mini 3D Lidar for Robots

by Pieter Werner

Hesai Technology has announced plans to unveil a new mini 3D lidar model at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025 in Las Vegas. The announcement highlights the company’s ongoing focus on advancing lidar technology for industrial and robotic applications. Hesai will showcase its latest innovation during a press conference on January 7 at CES, where it will also provide live demonstrations of the product’s features.

The new mini lidar system is designed for compactness and efficiency, with a size comparable to a billiard ball. It combines high resolution with low power consumption and is engineered for ease of integration into devices such as automated guided vehicles (AGVs), autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), delivery robots, and agricultural machinery. The design is also suited to stationary applications, such as those found in warehousing and logistics.

David Li, CEO of Hesai, emphasized the strategic significance of the new lidar in the company’s product lineup, noting its role in broadening the use cases for robotic and industrial automation. In addition to the new model, Hesai plans to exhibit its advanced lidar solutions for automotive and autonomous mobility applications during CES.

Founded a decade ago, Hesai has delivered over 600,000 lidar units globally as of the third quarter of 2024. The company operates across Europe, the U.S., and Asia, with a portfolio of over 1,700 patents. Hesai’s participation at CES underscores its commitment to advancing lidar technology across multiple sectors and leveraging its expertise to drive innovation in mobility and automation.
