The Consumer Technology Association (CTA) unveiled its 2025 Global Innovation Scorecard at CES 2025 in Las Vegas, highlighting nations that excel in fostering technological innovation. The scorecard evaluates 74 countries and the European Union based on 16 categories and 56 metrics, assessing factors such as workforce diversity, broadband infrastructure, entrepreneurial climate, and openness to emerging technologies, including blockchain, autonomous vehicles, and Web 3.0.

The highest designation, Innovation Champion, was awarded to 25 nations, including Australia, Germany, Singapore, and the United States. Representatives from several recognized countries attended the award ceremony during the State of the Industry keynote, including government officials from Estonia, Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Switzerland.

The report, produced biennially, relies on public, independently verified, and internationally comparable data. It emphasizes how governmental policies influence innovation environments. The criteria reflect the interplay between political frameworks, economic conditions, and demographic factors in promoting technological advancements.

In his remarks, CTA CEO and Vice Chair Gary Shapiro highlighted the role of technology in addressing global challenges. He noted that the success of Innovation Champions illustrates the importance of collaboration between governments and the private sector in leveraging technology to improve global living standards.

Additionally, the Global Innovation Scorecard acknowledged Innovation Leaders, a group of countries demonstrating strong policies in education, entrepreneurship, and research and development. This category includes nations such as Belgium, Brazil, Italy, and Malaysia, which excel in several key metrics despite not achieving the top-tier designation.
