Case: WISAG digitizes warehouses

by Pieter Werner

WISAG has digitized the logistics of its warehouses in Krefeld using Easy WMS, the warehouse management software from Mecalux. WISAG, one of the largest industrial service providers in Germany, uses this technology to support the production processes of customers in different sectors. The software synchronizes WISAG’s warehouses with its customers’ production activities, so that semi-finished products are available at the right time for further processing.

According to WISAG’s CEO, Michael Lederer, adapting the system to the specific requirements of different sectors ensures an efficient flow of materials. In a second warehouse in Krefeld, where the company offers personalized logistics services, Easy WMS monitors more than 10,000 SKUs in real time, applying strategies such as temporary storage and cross-docking, taking into account the specific storage and distribution needs of customers.

To ensure the accuracy of deliveries, WISAG has also implemented the Multi Carrier Shipping Software from Mecalux. This module controls the packaging, labelling and shipping of goods in collaboration with carriers. In addition, WISAG uses the WMS module for logistics service providers (3PL), designed for companies that offer logistics services to third parties. Lederer points out that optimising processes in the warehouse leads to shorter distances travelled by operators, which contributes to more efficient shipping of products.

WISAG, based in Frankfurt, is a family-owned company with 14,000 employees. The company offers solutions for administrative management, maintenance, logistics and other industrial services. Mecalux, which supplies the software, specialises in automated storage solutions and logistics software with a global network of 12 production centres and 7 R&D centres.
