Apptronik Raises $350 Million For AI-Powered Humanoid Robots

by Marco van der Hoeven

Apptronik has secured $350 million in Series A funding to scale production of its AI-powered humanoid robots, with investment led by B Capital and Capital Factory, and participation from Google. The funding will support the deployment of Apollo, the company’s humanoid robot, while expanding operations and advancing development efforts.

Jeff Cardenas, CEO and co-founder of Apptronik, stated that the company aims to create humanoid robots capable of working alongside humans in various industries. Gordon Daugherty, chairman of Capital Factory and an outside board director at Apptronik, noted that the company is focused on setting a new standard in human-centered AI.

The investment will allow Apptronik to accelerate the development of humanoid robots, refine Apollo’s capabilities, and explore new form factors. It will also support manufacturing expansion to meet growing demand in industries such as logistics, manufacturing, and consumer goods.

Founded in 2016 at the University of Texas at Austin’s Human Centered Robotics Lab, Apptronik has developed multiple robotic systems, including NASA’s Valkyrie, before unveiling Apollo as an industrial humanoid robot. The company has established partnerships with organizations such as NASA, NVIDIA, Google DeepMind, Mercedes-Benz, and GXO Logistics.

This funding follows three years of growth, including a collaboration with NASA in 2022 and recent agreements with industry leaders to integrate Apollo into real-world applications. The company had previously raised $28 million before this latest funding round.

“With Apptronik, we see a world in which humanoid robots play a vital role in addressing societal challenges—from assisting with disaster relief and elder care to supporting space exploration and medical advancements. Industry leaders like Mercedes-Benz and GXO Logistics are already seeing the real-world impact of Apptronik’s technology,” said Howard Morgan, Chair and General Partner of B Capital. “We back the most innovative founders, and there’s no exception here. Jeff and the team are redefining robotics while reshaping our world for the better.”
