A recent study by Kaspersky reveals that artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly becoming an integral part of various sectors. According to the study, many respondents view AI not only as a tool but also as a full-fledged team member in the workplace. Notably, nearly a third of respondents (29%) believe that AI could be a fairer boss than a human due to its perceived impartiality. Additionally, 41 percent of those surveyed foresee that children will soon be educated through virtual experiences and metaverses.
The study highlights the growing popularity of AI, as evidenced by the success of ChatGPT, one of the most well-known AI chatbots. Statistics from Similarweb show that ChatGPT received 153 million visits in its first month after its launch in November 2022, with the number peaking at 2 billion visits in April 2024.
Kaspersky’s research focuses on the current level of trust in AI, exploring various applications of the technology, from management roles in the workplace to aiding in significant personal decisions. Nearly half of the respondents (48%) consider AI an inevitable part of their lives, while 38 percent are optimistic about AI’s potential to create new opportunities and improve the future. A majority of 64 percent even believe that AI is capable of producing credible artworks.
The study also reveals that 50 percent of respondents would like to use AI to make their daily lives more efficient. AI is increasingly seen as a personal assistant and companion, with 38 percent of respondents indicating they would use an AI chatbot for online conversations, and 25 percent to help them find the right partner on a dating app. Moreover, 44 percent believe that human relationships will change due to the impact of AI, particularly if virtual characters begin to replace real partners.
Vladislav Tushkanov, Research Development Group Manager at Kaspersky, notes that AI is increasingly being used for both traditional and personal tasks. While AI technologies continue to evolve, driving innovation and enhancing human experiences, he also warns of the growing risks. These include overreliance on AI advice and advanced threats such as AI-generated phishing, deepfakes, and identity theft. Tushkanov emphasizes that these challenges need to be addressed on multiple levels.
