NVIDIA has introduced the Jetson Orin Nano Super Developer Kit, a compact generative AI supercomputer designed to enhance accessibility and performance for developers, hobbyists, and students. Priced at $249—significantly lower than its predecessor’s $499—the device offers notable advancements in generative AI capabilities.
The new system achieves up to a 1.7x increase in generative AI inference performance compared to earlier versions. Other enhancements include a 70% improvement in processing capacity, delivering 67 INT8 TOPS, and a 50% boost in memory bandwidth, reaching 102GB/s. These upgrades make it suitable for diverse applications, from creating language models and visual AI agents to deploying robotics solutions.
The kit includes a Jetson Orin Nano 8GB system-on-module (SoM) paired with a reference carrier board, offering a platform for prototyping edge AI applications. The SoM incorporates an NVIDIA Ampere architecture GPU with tensor cores and a 6-core Arm CPU, enabling multiple AI pipelines and high-performance inference. The device supports up to four cameras with enhanced resolution and frame rates.
The Jetson Orin Nano Super is compatible with NVIDIA’s AI software ecosystem, including tools like NVIDIA Isaac for robotics, NVIDIA Metropolis for vision AI, and NVIDIA Holoscan for sensor processing. Developers can also utilize NVIDIA Omniverse Replicator for synthetic data generation and the TAO Toolkit for customizing pretrained models from NVIDIA’s NGC catalog. Additionally, the system benefits from support provided by the Jetson AI lab and an extensive developer community.
Existing Jetson Orin Nano Developer Kit users can access these performance improvements through a software upgrade to the JetPack SDK, which also benefits the broader Jetson Orin NX and Orin Nano series. This update underscores NVIDIA’s commitment to equipping users with advanced tools for developing in fields such as generative AI, robotics, and computer vision. The Jetson Orin Nano Super Developer Kit is now available for purchase.
