Muddy Machines has announced its acquisition of key assets and intellectual property from Fox Robotics, including its logistics robot platform designed for farm operations. This move strengthens Muddy Machines’ portfolio in agricultural robotics and expands its ability to offer solutions tailored to horticultural needs. The logistics robot, rebranded as “Squirrel,” will complement the company’s existing product, “Sprout,” a robotic platform for precision agriculture in field crops.
According to Chris Chavasse, CEO of Muddy Machines, the acquisition aligns with the company’s focus on addressing labor challenges in horticulture. Squirrel is designed to transport heavy loads autonomously in environments such as berry farms and polytunnels, supporting farm workers and enhancing productivity. Meanwhile, Sprout continues to evolve, with its selective asparagus harvesting tool and plans for additional precision agricultural applications, such as weeding, planting, and spraying.
This development comes as Muddy Machines seeks investment to accelerate its market readiness and delivery capabilities. The company has emphasized its commitment to providing solutions that mitigate financial pressures faced by growers, such as rising labor costs. By combining Sprout and Squirrel, the company aims to offer a comprehensive suite of electric robotic solutions designed to optimize labor-intensive farm tasks and support profitability in the agricultural sector.
