Vanderlande, a Dutch company specializing in logistics automation, announced it will acquire Siemens Logistics from Siemens AG, extending its footprint in airport and cargo handling technology. The acquisition agreement, signed on October 31, 2024, awaits regulatory approval and is projected to close in 2025. It has received full backing from both Vanderlande’s Supervisory and Management Boards and the Siemens Management Board.
Siemens Logistics, which provides advanced baggage and cargo handling solutions and digital technologies for airports, will expand Vanderlande’s offerings in automated logistics. According to Vanderlande’s President & CEO, Andrew Manship, Siemens Logistics aligns well with Vanderlande’s strategic focus on innovation and adaptability in logistics automation, especially amid growing demand for advanced airport systems. Michael Schneider, CEO of Siemens Logistics, noted that the acquisition would leverage both companies’ technologies to accelerate service and product innovation for airport logistics customers worldwide.
This transaction also reflects a broader shift in the logistics sector, where increasing automation and digital solutions are responding to higher volumes of passenger traffic and airport modernization. Through this acquisition, Vanderlande aims to build on its established airport logistics business, leveraging Siemens Logistics’ expertise to further its reach and service capability on a global scale. The companies anticipate that combining their portfolios will bring enhanced support to clients, from expanded product offerings to improved local services.
Once completed, the acquisition is expected to enable the merged companies to better address the evolving needs of airport logistics through enhanced technology integration and a strengthened global presence.
