Mobile Industrial Robots (MiR) has introduced MiR Fleet Enterprise, a new fleet management software designed to enhance scalability, security, and modularity for autonomous mobile robots (AMRs). Launched on October 18, 2024, MiR Fleet Enterprise offers advanced features tailored to meet the growing demands of enterprise-level customers, particularly in optimizing material handling workflows and improving productivity.
MiR’s latest software platform builds on its existing capabilities by offering a more sophisticated and scalable solution for managing AMR fleets. MiR Fleet Enterprise facilitates traffic management and improves deployment processes, positioning MiR as a comprehensive provider for internal logistics and material handling solutions. The software has been re-engineered with a focus on modularity, allowing it to evolve alongside customer needs and technological advancements.
According to Jean-Pierre Hathout, president of MiR, the new platform represents a major step forward for the company’s software, transitioning from a polling-based API to a more efficient publish-subscribe model. This shift allows for more responsive data exchanges across systems, enhancing performance while maintaining a strong foundation for future development. MiR Fleet Enterprise aims to offer a comprehensive, cyber-secured solution that ensures the continued usability and innovation of AMR fleets.
Cybersecurity has been a critical consideration in the development of MiR Fleet Enterprise. With AMR systems increasingly integrated into IT environments, the software incorporates advanced security measures, including single sign-on, audit logging, and an improved user permission system, designed in accordance with IEC 62443 Part 4-2 standards. These features aim to protect against evolving cyber threats, reflecting MiR’s commitment to delivering secure and scalable AMR solutions. Birol Esmer, head of software product management at MiR, emphasized the platform’s role in addressing the need for cybersecurity in rapidly expanding AMR fleets.
MiR Fleet Enterprise also provides flexible configuration options, allowing customers to customize the software in alignment with their existing IT strategies. This adaptability supports integration with both modern IT infrastructures and cloud environments, making deployment more straightforward. Additionally, the platform is designed to handle large AMR fleets, improving communication between the management software and individual robots, even when managing over 100 units.
The launch of MiR Fleet Enterprise comes at a time of rapid growth in the AMR market, with projections estimating global AMR deployments to exceed 2.7 million units by 2027. The demand for scalable, secure software solutions is expected to grow alongside this trend, and MiR aims to meet these evolving needs with its latest offering.
