YASKAWA announces a cooperation agreement with Fizyr

by Pieter Werner

YASKAWA has announced a cooperation agreement with Fizyr, focusing on a non-exclusive go-to-market strategy in Europe. The collaboration aims to facilitate the implementation of robotic automation in warehouse logistics by leveraging AI-based computer vision. The target areas include high-speed item picking, automatic parcel sorting, palletizing, depalletizing, and trailer unloading, which involve handling objects of various sizes and shapes. The use of AI in vision systems is considered crucial for overcoming past difficulties in automating these processes.

Pär Tornemo, Senior Vice President of YASKAWA Europe’s Robotic Division and Managing Director of YASKAWA Nordic AB, emphasized the role of vision and AI in enabling automation in this sector. He expressed optimism about growing the partnership with Fizyr to help system integrators implement robotic systems more efficiently. The cooperation will offer integrators a solution that includes robots with integrated vision packages, designed to be easy to deploy. Additionally, pre-sales support, training, and technical assistance will be provided throughout the stages of design, installation, and operation.

Ken Fleming, CEO of Fizyr, highlighted the importance of simplifying the integration process to help system and robotics integrators scale their solutions. He noted that the partnership with YASKAWA enables integrators to deliver their solutions to the market more quickly.
