Serve Robotics and Wing Partner in Autonomous Delivery

by Marco van der Hoeven

Serve Robotics and Wing Aviation have announced a partnership aimed at expanding autonomous delivery capabilities by integrating Serve’s sidewalk robots with Wing’s drone technology. The collaboration is designed to streamline food delivery, combining the strengths of both companies’ technologies. Serve’s AI-powered, low-emission robots will collect orders from restaurants in dense urban areas and deliver them to Wing drones, which will then complete the delivery to customers up to six miles away.

This robot-to-drone solution is said to offer faster and more efficient delivery by bypassing traffic congestion and utilizing fully-electric vehicles. The partnership will enable merchants to access drone delivery without making significant changes to their operations, potentially extending the range of sidewalk delivery robots significantly. Serve CEO Dr. Ali Kashani stated that the collaboration would expand their reach from local 2-mile deliveries to city-wide coverage within 30 minutes. Wing, having completed over 400,000 deliveries across three continents, views the initiative as a way to better serve merchants in congested areas.

The joint effort is also positioned as environmentally friendly, aiming to reduce vehicle emissions, traffic congestion, and road accidents, while offering a cost-efficient and safer delivery option. Both Serve and Wing’s solutions aim to provide a reliable and scalable delivery model as demand for automated services continues to grow.
