Harbor Lockers announced a strategic partnership with Ottonomy to launch the Ottobot Locker, a locker-on-robot system aimed at enhancing last-mile delivery services. This initiative is part of Harbor Lockers’ efforts to expand its network, focusing specifically on first and last-mile logistics in the Bay Area.
The Ottobot Locker, developed by Ottonomy, incorporates the company’s L4 autonomous technology. This technology is expected to provide streamlined services for end customers, particularly in hyperlocal areas, facilitating pickup, drop-off, and delivery. It is designed to work within the Harbor Locker app ecosystem, adding a new dimension to the existing concept of fixed smart lockers.
Tad W. Jenkins, General Manager of Harbor Lockers, stated that the company is exploring how lockers can advance logistics and customer experience with new services and applications. He noted that this partnership marks a significant step in the realm of autonomous delivery and aligns with Harbor’s objective to build the world’s largest public locker network.
This collaboration is supported by a strategic investment from Locker One Ventures, the venture arm of Assa Abloy. Ritukar Vijay, CEO and co-founder of Ottonomy, commented on the impact of their autonomous robot technology on meeting increasing customer demands. He indicated that the partnership with Harbor Lockers and the introduction of the Ottobot Locker represents a significant development in the industry, focusing on enhancing quick commerce and providing diverse delivery options for businesses.
