Despite some minor setbacks, the number of cities where robot taxi ‘s are deployed keeps growing. Recently both Cruise, Waymo, Motional and Lyft announced expansion of their activities in autonomous transport of people.
On Twitter Cruise CEO Kyle Vogt announced his company will now offer daytime driverless rides for paying customers in parts of San Francisco. Up until now the autonomous taxi’s operated only at night. At the same time Waymo, a unit of Google parent Alphabet, also announed it has received a driverless pilot per mit to offer robot taxi services in San Francisco, te be operated 24/7. Finally Motional, an autonomous driving company that was founded by Hyundai, Aptiv, and Lyft, announced that it would be starting autonomous rides in Los Angeles.
