PulteGroup has tested a robotic system to build a home’s structural walls in its TerraWalk community at Babcock Ranch, Florida. The company partnered with Australian firm FBR to use the Hadrian X, an AI-guided robot that can construct walls in a single day by precisely placing concrete blocks with a specialized adhesive. This test is one of only ten homes in the U.S. built using this technology. PulteGroup says robotic construction could help improve efficiency, safety, and affordability in homebuilding.
PulteGroup conducted the test as part of its ongoing efforts to explore innovative construction methods that could address industry challenges such as labor shortages and build efficiency. The Hadrian X system automates the wall-building process with a robotic arm that places blocks with high precision, reducing material waste and accelerating construction timelines. Unlike traditional mortar, the adhesive used in this system bonds twice as strong, potentially enhancing the durability of homes built with this method.
The test took place in Babcock Ranch, a solar-powered town where PulteGroup is already experimenting with other advanced homebuilding technologies. The company’s Innovation Way initiative in the community serves as a testing ground for emerging solutions, including sustainable building practices and smart home automation. With this successful demonstration, PulteGroup continues to evaluate how robotics and artificial intelligence could shape the future of residential construction.
